"PI" can be installed on any machine that meets the minimum system requirements. For maximum performance, the preferred requirements are recommended. To install "PI", the following hardware components are required: Minimum Preferred * IBM compatible PC + IBM Compatible PC * Windows 95 or Windows NT + Windows 98 or higher or Windows NT * Pentium 200 mhz processor + Pentium 400 mhz processor or better * 14.4k BPS Modem + 56k BPS Modem connection or better * 500 Megabyte Hard Disk + 1 Gigabyte Hard Disk * 2x CD-ROM Drive + 6x CD-ROM Drive * 15" SVGA Monitor/ + 15" SVGA Monitor/800X600 resolution 800X600 resolution (32 bit True color preferred) (minimum 16 bit color required) * Keyboard + Keyboard * A Printer + A Printer * Mouse + Input Device: Light Pen or Touch Screen Monitor + Dedicated Phone Line Upgrading the PI Software 1. Start Windows. If there are any software applications running, exit from them now. Make sure no networked instances of PI are running. 2. From the FOTOINC.COM/Support page, click on "Click to download the PI 5.0 Upgrade". Choose "Save" when file download begins, and save to the PI folder, or a temp folder. Do NOT save to desktop. 3. Click "Open" when download is complete. The Installation Wizard will start. 4. Touch Next on the "Welcome to Patient Inquiry Software 5.0" screen. 5. Touch Next. 6. Touch Next on the "Start Installation" screen. 7. The installing screen will appear and files needed for the installation will be copied to your hard drive. 8. Touch Finish on the "Installation Complete" screen. Note: In some instances you may be prompted to reboot the computer to complete the installation. DO NOT restart the computer. Choose "restart at later time" or "cancel" and continue to step 9. 9. Start the Patient Inquiry application by double clicking the Patient Inquiry icon in order to complete the installation. 10. Current clients' setup type will be greyed out on the "Install/Upgrade PI"screen. Click "SETUP" to continue. Note: Single User - A non-network installation. A stand alone machine that is to be used for both patient and staff input functions. The database sits in the hard drive of the stand alone machine and cannot be shared by any other machine. The database will be installed on the hard drive in the directory you specified as the location of the PI files. (The default location is C:\PI) Server - a Network installation. A central location for the PI database files. Acceptable Platforms are Windows NT 4.0 or better and Novell. The PI administrator or Network Administrator, of your facility, should be involved with this installation. In the "Database Location" text box, type the location in which you would like the database to be stored or find a location using the Find Button. The GO button will be disabled if the location is the current directory or the install location. Kiosk - A computer workstation that is connected to the server and is sharing the PI database with other Patient input machines. This is useful when patients and staff want to access PI at the same time from different locations. PI Cannot be installed on a Patient Input Computer until PI is installed on the server. Contact your PI administrator or Network administrator to find out where the PI database is located. 11. Touch OK on the "PI is installed" screen. ------------------------------ After installation is complete ------------------------------ We recommend that you have Acrobat Reader version 4.0 or newer to view the Patient Inquiry documentation.
