American Physical Therapy Association, Section on Women’s Health, Endorses FOTO Pelvic Floor Assessment
The Section on Women’s Health of the American Physical Therapy Association has endorsed the pelvic floor assessment developed by FOTO. Data will be gathered to assist in patient care.
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
The Section on Women’s Health of the American Physical Therapy Association (The SoWH) and Focus On Therapeutic Outcomes, Inc. (FOTO) are pleased to announce that the SoWH has endorsed the pelvic floor assessment developed by FOTO.
The SoWH has done an extensive qualifying process that resulted in endorsement of the pelvic floor assessment. The FOTO assessment will allow efficient and accurate measurement of the patient’s function. The assessment is web based, filled out by the patient and produces a report, which will be used by the treating therapist to help guide patient care. The report includes a measure of the patient’s impairment, as well as information and scores for Medicare’s new functional limitation reporting requirement. The data from each patient will be added to a national database that will be used by The SoWH for research and supporting policy initiatives.“We are very excited about this new collaboration with FOTO,” states Wendy Featherstone, President of the Section on Women’s Health. “Data to support our treatment of women’s and men’s pelvic floor dysfunction is necessary in this area of practice. This is a great opportunity for us to collect national data for use in practice and to assist in directing research."
Al Amato, PT, MBA, FOTO President, said, “That having the endorsement from The SoWH will encourage therapists treating a patient with pelvic dysfunction to use the assessment and add to the data base. The larger the database, the more instructive the data will be to guide future patient care and gain a better understanding about these patients' response to care.”
“FOTO is very happy to be a partner with The SoWH and look forward to helping them with usable data.”
